Class of 2020

The 119 St. Joseph Hill Academy High School Class of 2020 students had several collective accomplishments that are worthy of particular kudos. This year once again marked a very competitive college application environment for millions of high school students nationally especially young women. Applications to some public universities soared as high as 70,000 and acceptance rates for the most competitive private colleges in the nation as low as 4.9 percent. The Covid-19 pandemic moved the college process to a virtual one in mid-March before all results were released from colleges and many students did not have the opportunity to attend accepted students days in person at their top college choices.

The Class of 2020 and their families handled the uncertainty extremely well, however, and the Class of 2020 students were accepted into 189 colleges and universities throughout the US. And despite the pandemic they are venturing off to colleges in upstate NY, NJ, CT, PA and much further away to FL, MA, MS, RI, NC, SC, and Wisconsin. It bears particular note that 17 members of this particular class were accepted into accelerated masters and doctorate programs in various fields of study including business, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, physician assistant, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. 19 members of this class will be participating in honors and scholars programs. In addition, 11 students were offered full tuition scholarships. 5 students in this class were offered NCAA division I, II, and III athletic scholarships in swimming, track and field, and volleyball.

This year’s class of 119 gifted women amassed academic scholarship monies exceeding 42.3 million dollars. And not just members of the top of class received those academic merit scholarships. The scholarships earned by all of these talented women are so essential in this challenging economic environment.
