Hill sisters "In the Quarantine Kitchen"

Cangiano sisters on Rachael Ray

Hill Senior Kristina Cangiano and Hill Alumna Daniella Cangiano (Class of 2017) started the Facebook group Quarantine Kitchen in the early days of the pandemic. Sisters Kristina and Daniella talked about how many people would be cooking at home and their mom Traci suggested starting a Facebook group for their family and friends where they could recipe swap and get cooking inspiration. Kristina and Daniella launched Quarantine Kitchen on 3/18/20 and one year later there are over 42,000 members from across the globe and growing by the day all sharing recipes, family history, daily kitchen stories, and so much more.

They asked Quarantine Kitchen members to submit recipes to be featured in a cookbook In the Quarantine Kitchen: How We All Became Chefs During a Pandemic where all proceeds would go to benefit the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation Covid 19 Heroes Fund. Almost every person that shared a recipe included a story about it with some photos. The book quickly sold out but after ordering an additional 1,500 books there is still time to place an order on their Etsy Shop: InTheQK

Kristina noted that she, "truly loved seeing strangers supporting each other through the love of food. So many friends were made in this group! We shared a full year of holidays together, and I loved when members shared their family recipes and memories surrounding them. In my opinion, this was the most rewarding."

You can catch the Cangiano sisters on the Rachael Ray Show on Tuesday 4/13/21 at 2:00 pm on WABC (channel 7) as well as on NY1 and in the Staten Island Advance this week!
