Mia’s passion for swimming developed from a young age. Her hard work and dedication throughout the years have led her to achieve success. “I train six days a week both in and out of the pool. I started my career as a backstroker but I now breaststroke and IM.” She has worked her way from Junior Olympics to the Junior National level.
Her talent and drive have led her to receive multiple awards. “As a freshman, I was awarded the Outstanding Freshman Award. I achieved my personal best times at the Catholic High School Girls Championship meet in February.” She was also awarded the Millie Travaras Award, which is given to a swimmer who has finished first in all of their events or breaks a high school record.
Mia is proud to swim for the Hill Swim Team and acts as one of the captains this year. The swim team remains undefeated and are New York City Champions. She is looking forward, along with her teammates, to another championship season.
As for her plans for the future, Mia will be competing in the Atlantic 10 Conference and will be attending the Isenburg Business School at UMass Amherst in the fall. “It is with all of my training and hard work, along with the support from my parents and coaches, that I am proud to commit to the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.”
