Founded in 2003, Girls Learn International (GLI) advocates for positive changes for girls and women all over the world. Hill is fortunate enough to be one of the 114 chapters in 25 U.S. states. Chase Cohen, one of the leaders of Hill's chapter of GLI, has been involved since her freshman year at Saint Joseph Hill Academy.
Throughout the years, Hill's chapter of GLI has helped her grow into the confident young woman she is today. The once shy Chase is now leading discussions and standing up for what she believes in. "Being a part of GLI has made me more outgoing and confident in myself. I am also definitely more vocal in my beliefs now."
In May of 2018, Chase applied to be a member of the Student Advisory Board. After patiently waiting for updates, she received the news of her election amongst hundreds of other applicants to join the New York regional board in early September. Surrounded by strong women, Chase has been motivated to continue her advocacy work. Her mother, her best friend/co-leader, and the moderator of GLI, Ms. Mojica, have supported her every step of the way.
As for her future plans, she looks forward to continuing her work with Girls Learn International. She plans to enjoy the year as a leader of Hill's chapter of GLI, "I am definitely going to continue working with GLI or an organization similar to GLI in college. As for this year, we have a lot of exciting things planned like the smoothie sale, the sanitary napkin drive, and, of course, the self-defense class!"
