Scholarships Forge a Bond Between Alumnae and Hill Students

Inspired by Hill’s Centennial Celebration, High School Alumna, Jeanine R. Khoury (’78) recalled how her Hill education, friendships and experiences have influenced her life.  The values and knowledge instilled and the relationships shared while a student at SJHA remain at the heart of who she is and the personal and professional achievements she celebrates. Hill’s Centennial presented the perfect opportunity for Ms. Khoury to acknowledge her appreciation for Hill’s traditions and educational foundation.  She decided to establish a scholarship fund to be awarded to an incoming freshman who demonstrates the qualities of Leadership, Community Service and Integrity.  The initial Jeanine R. Khoury Scholarship was awarded in the fall of 2019.

Ms. Khoury earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from the University of Rochester in Psychology and Biology in 1982 and went on to earn a Certificate in Financial Management from the American Institute of Banking in 1985.  She also earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Pace University in 1990.

Highly successful in her career, Ms. Khoury is currently a Senior Vice President at Brown Brothers Harriman and serves as the Human Resources Program Manager. An avid volunteer, her service includes membership in Women United, a leadership committee of the United Way of NYC, where she serves as co-chair for the WU Executive Committee since 2017.  Loyal to her college alma mater, the University of Rochester, Ms. Khoury is a founding member of the George Eastman Circle and also serves as the Chair of her Class Reunion and a member of the University’s Volunteer Leaders Committee.

“I’ve learned that the simple act of giving can create such joy.  Whether it is one’s time, experience and mentorship, or money – no matter how big or small the investment – it always has a way of multiplying.  My hope is that by giving even a small amount in the form of a scholarship, I can make a big difference in the life of an aspiring young leader.”

This year’s Jeanine R. Khoury Scholarship was awarded to Noelle Curlin.   Grateful for this award, Noelle noted, "I am deeply honored to be the first-ever recipient of the prestigious Jeanine R. Khoury Scholarship. This scholarship made it possible for me to attend St. Joseph Hill Academy, a school that has come to mean so much to my family and me. I will always be grateful to Ms. Khoury; her generosity and bigheartedness have transformed my academic career. Ms. Khoury has given me an amazing opportunity and I can only hope to follow in her footsteps and 'pay-it-forward' one day."

Hill’s principal, Mrs. Maria Molluzzo was deeply moved by Ms. Khoury’s generosity and the opportunity it provides to her students.  According to Mrs. Molluzzo,  “We are beyond grateful to Ms. Jeanine R. Khoury for giving back to her alma mater by offering a young lady the opportunity to fulfill her dream of attending St. Joseph Hill Academy where she will receive the excellent Catholic education St. Joseph Hill Academy is known for.”

The Jeanine R. Khoury Scholarship is open to an entering freshman who clearly demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the values and traditions of St. Joseph Hill Academy. The candidate must exhibit strong evidence of leadership, scholarship and service. The scholarship, awarded to one student yearly, provides the recipient with $2500.00 each year for four (4) years of enrollment at St. Joseph Hill Academy.
