Introduction to Algebra 1
9:00 am to 10:30 am
This course is designed to provide a review of the Pre-Algebra topics that are essential in Algebra 1 and an introduction to some Algebra 1 topics. This course will serve as a bridge between 8th grade math and Algebra 1.
Students will review simplifying expressions, solving equations and inequalities, graphing linear equations, evaluating functions, writing equations from word problems, operations with polynomials, and factoring the GCF from polynomials. Students will also study exponent and radical expressions. By the end of the course, students will have an increased understanding of the fundamental topics that are used throughout the Algebra 1 course.
A Mini Course in High School Writing
11:00 am to 12:30 pm
This course is designed to provide a smooth transition to high school level English classes. Basic grammar will be reviewed--such as parts of speech and parts of a sentence-- in preparation for the typical writing tasks assigned at Hill.
